RELEASE & RESTORE: Regulate, Release, & Restore Without Reliving It

Release and Restore practice

Release somatically stored stress & trauma while bathed in the transcendent sound of crystal bowls, the magical sensation of energy clearing, and the transformative peace of guided meditation. Finish feeling relaxed, serene, grounded, and aligned.

Release & Restore™ is a weekly one-hour online class offered as individual sessions, reduced-price packages, or a monthly membership subscription at a greatly reduced price. Available in the safe, private location of your choice. It is a proprietary system for stress and trauma release which consists of three segments: a crystal bowl sound bath, energy clearing, and guided meditation.

When the Body Finally Feels Safe Enough to Let Go

These three modalities work separately and synergistically, enabling the body to feel safe enough to allow the release of stress and trauma which was stored in our cells at times when there was too much to process in the moment. Each of the three areas of the brain stores stress and trauma in the body differently, so each requires a unique process for the release of it, triggering the vagus nerve to act as a conduit for the somatically held stress and trauma to move out of the body and breaking the response loops in the brain.

The sound bath releases stress and trauma stored by the cerebellum, or reptilian brain, when existential fear is experienced causing a fight, flight, freeze, or faint response. Energy clearing releases stress and trauma stored by the limbic system, or emotional and relationship area, of the brain. And guided meditation releases what was stored by the cerebrum, or thinking and reasoning area, of the brain.

Together, these three modalities regulate your nervous system and build psychological resilience, allowing you to move toward healing without having to relive your past or the pain it held.

Where Nervous System Healing Meets Lasting Transformation

Release & Restore™ is trauma-informed, neuroscience-based, and complementary to any other healing work you may be doing. During the class, you lie comfortably on a bed or couch in the privacy of your home while your body naturally releases stored stress and trauma. With consistent participation, it offers deep brain reorienting and a pathway to achieve and maintain:

  • Deep, peaceful sleep
  • Reduced stress
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Pain relief
  • Reduced cortisol levels and related health risks
  • Improved physical health
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Reduced PTSD impacts
  • Reduced ADD & ADHD symptoms
  • Emotional release
  • Psychological resilience
  • A deeper connection to God, or the Divine as you understand it
  • A sense of spiritual awakening

Often, it simply means feeling more like yourself again. More connected, more at peace, more present, all with more space for joy in your daily life.

From Family Legacy to Personal Experience

While I haven’t served, I come from a long line of military service and am familiar with the kind of stress and trauma experienced in service to our country.

I am a direct descendant of Thomas Truxton, who was one of the first six commanders appointed to the new U.S. Navy by President George Washington. My paternal grandfather served in the Army in WWI and my maternal grandfather was career Army, serving in WWI, WWII, and the Korean War. My father enlisted in the Marine Corps and saw active duty as a gunner on a ship in the South Pacific during WWII and as an officer on the front lines of the Korean War. Both of my mom’s brothers graduated from Annapolis, one captaining ships and acting as an attache abroad, and the other deploying on a nuclear submarine. A cousin served as a Ranger in the Army National Guard for 50 years, and three nephews were special forces in the Navy.

My most personal experience was being the mom of two infantry Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). I said goodbye to my only children as they got on a bus headed to boot camp together at ages 18 and 20. My older son’s MOS was Recon Marine (special forces) and Scout Sniper Spotter, later training as a Scout Sniper, and my younger son’s MOS was Light Armored Vehicle Scout.

Service, Sacrifice, and the Cost Carried Home

Both saw war up close, lost comrades, and returned home with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) but coped in very different ways, one battling through it internally while the other struggled with hopelessness. And then there were the post-service losses to suicide and the death of one of their closest friends while serving in Afghanistan as a member of MARSOC (special forces).

In response to their service and post-service challenges, I have dealt with my own military-related CPTSD. These experiences give me a unique understanding of this kind of trauma and the journey to healing it. The details of those experiences would, no doubt, further demonstrate my understanding – but they are not my stories to tell.

Healing Without Reliving the Battles

It’s common to feel displaced, misunderstood, or alone in the civilian world after military service, and dealing with the effects of stored trauma can make it harder. In time, even those experiences tightly held in the compartmentalized vaults within your brain will begin to release, giving you space to feel safe, understood, and whole again — space to feel joy.

Here, there is no shame, no guilt, no fear—just natural release and a return to health without having to relive your experiences or the pain they held. Your only duty is to show up ready to relax into healing.

Living Between Hypervigilance and Home

For shifts, years, and decades on end, First Responders experience more stress and trauma than is possible to process.

My older son is a fire fighter and a paramedic, and I see the work it takes to change gears from work to home and back again, the toll taken by sleep deprivation, and the cost of seeing trauma up close shift after shift. I’ve seen the realization that death was more probable than getting out of a fire with completely melted gear, and the aftermath of processing what that would have meant to a wife and three young children. Yet he pushes through. And my younger son is an armed security guard at a private school, building friendly relationships externally while hypervigilant and ready for anything internally.

When Survival Mode Becomes the Default

The danger with First Responders is that the trauma is so frequent and ongoing that they tend to normalize it when their nervous systems know there is nothing normal about it. The wisdom of the body’s survival mechanism stores the unprocessed stress and trauma, building up in the body over years and creating trauma-brain loops which can’t be broken through talking, eventually causing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health issues.

From Constant Readiness to Real Rest

In time, even those experiences tightly held in the compartmentalized vaults within your brain will release, giving you more space for joy in your life. Your work is hard by any standard, and dealing with the effects of stress and trauma stored in your body over time makes it even harder. There is no shame, no guilt, no fear here, just natural release and a return to health. Your only duty is to show up ready to relax into healing.

Why This Work Is Personal for Me

Unfortunately, I know your pain because I was in an emotionally, verbally, and financially abusive marriage for six years, and during the last two years of that marriage I knew physical abuse was a possibility at any moment.

I secretly started therapy at a women’s shelter while he was at his second home out of state for a month, and I moved out of what had been my condo two days before he was expected to return. As my therapist advised, I told him while he was still 1000 miles away, and I recorded the conversation.

In my mid-50s at the time, I wasn’t working and no longer had possessions beyond what fit in boxes. I moved into my aging parents’ home, slept ten to twelve hours a night, and cried every day for a year, sometimes all day. I’d felt as though I was slowly disappearing during those six years of marriage, like the photo of Michael J. Fox’s character in “Back to the Future,” and by the time I left I was physically and emotionally bankrupt.

From Survival to Self

Among other health issues, an Integrative Medicine doctor who has worked with thousands of clients throughout North America informed me that my cortisol (stress hormone) levels were the highest she’d ever seen. They were literally off the chart, showing that my Complex PTSD had created an habitual response to perceived stress which caused high levels of cortisol – the result of being in a chronic state of fight, flight, freeze, or faint. It was as if my stress gas pedal was floored and stuck there.

That diagnosis was one of several inspirations for developing Release & Restore™, and after using it for six months my cortisol levels were within normal range. My anxiety diminished, I slept better, my energy levels increased, and I felt like me again. I had avoided a silently brewing health crisis, and I rediscovered the joy of life.

You Were Meant for More Than Survival

It is “normal” to feel scared, on edge, fatigued, displaced, misunderstood, and alone after getting out of an abusive relationship, and dealing with the effects of narcissism and stored trauma makes it even harder. Even if you’ve never been diagnosed, if you’ve survived domestic violence there’s a good chance that you have Complex Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (CPTSD).

Offerings

In time and with consistent Release & Restore™ participation, even those experiences tightly held in the compartmentalized vaults within your brain can release, giving you space to feel safe, seen, understood, and whole again — space to feel joy in creating a new life. Here, there is no shame, no guilt, no fear—just natural release and a return to health and wholeness. Your only job is to show up ready to feel safe, breathe more deeply, and relax into healing.

Witnessing the Reality of Addiction

I’ve watched people I love deeply struggle with the cycle of addiction and hopelessness. I’ve watched helplessly as they’ve headed down the slippery slope, especially during painful life events. I’ve been the one who found them after they overdosed, sat beside them in the hospital as they recovered, and heard terrifying sounds in my home that made me fear they had taken their own life.

Watching Hope Return

But I’ve also witnessed healing and watched hope return.

Not as a perfect straight line upward, but as a gradual softening of the extremes — the crashes becoming less severe, the moments of clarity becoming more frequent, and the overall trajectory steadily moving toward life instead of despair. I’ve heard words that once felt impossible: “I usually feel like I’m trapped at the bottom of a huge dark hole after I overdose, but this time I’m thinking, ‘That was stupid… I have more to live for than that.’”

I’ve watched people rediscover hope, reconnect deeply with God, become more present in their children’s lives, and begin living with a renewed sense of purpose, meaning, self-worth, and personal responsibility.

Understanding the Nervous System Connection

The Work

Addiction often develops as an attempt to cope with overwhelming stress, emotional pain, trauma, nervous system dysregulation, hopelessness, or a deep sense of disconnection. Release & Restore™ is not addiction treatment, but it may serve as a powerful complementary support for those seeking greater inner peace, emotional regulation, self-awareness, reconnection with themselves, and renewed hope for what is possible.

There is no judgment, guilt, or shame here, only an understanding that the stress and trauma held within your body is contributing to behaviors you have a strong desire to change. It can feel like carrying a heavy rock on your back while trying to keep your head above water and swim back toward life.

Why Release & Restore

Through crystal singing bowl sound healing, energy clearing, and guided meditation, participants are supported in gently calming the nervous system and releasing the burden of stored stress and trauma, creating space for healthier patterns, greater clarity, emotional resilience, and deeper healing to emerge. You might think of it as receiving a supportive lift while doing the work of healing and recovery.

Release & Restore™ may be especially supportive for individuals in recovery, those working alongside licensed treatment providers, or those seeking holistic support for the emotional and spiritual aspects of healing and restoration, which are often the source of their addiction.
